Ķemeri National Park begins about 45 minutes west of Riga. Its best-known sight is the Great Ķemeri Bog, a raised bog that has been growing for thousands of years. A wooden boardwalk runs across it between small lakes, pines and moss, with a lookout tower over the whole bog.
The short loop takes under an hour on foot, the long one about an hour and a half. The boardwalk is flat and easy, and in the early morning the bog is often covered in mist.
On the way back to Riga the driver stops in Jūrmala, Latvia’s seaside resort. A good plan for the afternoon:
- a walk on the beach at Majori or Dzintari;
- lunch or coffee on Jomas iela;
- the wooden summer houses with carved verandas around Dzintari Forest Park.
Your driver collects you anywhere in Riga, waits at each place for the full 4.5 hours and brings you back to your door.

Where does the driver pick us up?
At the address you enter when booking - a hotel, an apartment or the airport - and you are brought back there unless you choose a different drop-off. If you are picked up at the airport, add your flight number and the driver follows your landing time.
How many people can travel?
Passengers per vehicle: Standard Car 3, Standard Van 7, Premium Van 6. Bigger groups book more than one vehicle - the booking form works out how many. For up to 19 passengers in one vehicle, ask for the Large Van (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): its price is on request and it needs at least 3 days’ notice.
How do I pay?
Online by card when you book, through Stripe’s secure checkout. Companies can add their company name and VAT number for the invoice.
What should we wear on the bog boardwalk?
Comfortable shoes are enough: the boardwalk is dry and level. Bring a light jacket, as it is often windy and cooler on the open bog than in the city, and insect repellent in summer.
Is the bog worth seeing in winter?
Yes. The boardwalk stays open all year, and with snow and frost the bog looks completely different. In winter we plan more time on the boardwalk and a shorter stop at the beach.
